The dome on the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) bridge was changed during a 1979-1982 refit to replace the ship's older AN/SPS-32 and AN/SPS-33 radar systems and its electronic warfare (EW) antennas. The refit installed new, more modern radar systems and a mast that was more compatible with newer aircraft, replacing the original dome that housed the primitive "billboard" radar and EW equipment.
