The moose (Alces alces) is the world's largest member of the deer family. The Alaska-Yukon race (Alces alces gigas) is the largest of all the moose. Moose are herbivores, and their name reflects that. The word “Moose” is derived from the Native American word- moos, an Algonquian word that means 'twig eater'. Only the males or “bulls” have antlers which grow during the summer and fall off (shed) during winter throughout the bull’s life. Moose rarely live more than 16 years. Music- In Your Smile-
