This olive burl cookie had some nasty surprises on top of the tool-torturing nature of the wood itself, but it was well worth the fight. This piece was a jewel of nastiness every step of the way. Given how rotten the burl was, it required thin epoxy with an extended curing time in order to fill all of the gaps and saturate the wood. However, the longer the curing process, the greater the risk of losing color separation in the resin. I found this out the hard way after hoping for more distinct purples and golds in this one.
